1. Introduction

CompareRemittanceRates.com is operated by Tacty Consultancy Ltd., registered in England and Wales under company number 08868895. Tacty Consultancy Ltd. is the data controller for the service. In this policy, "we", "our", and "us" refer to Tacty Consultancy Ltd. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you visit our website or use our mobile app. We believe in transparency and want you to understand exactly how your data is handled when you use our money transfer comparison service.

2. Information We Collect

We do not require you to register or provide personal information to use our comparison tools. However, we may collect non-personal data to improve our service:

  • IP address (anonymized for analytics)
  • Browser type and version
  • Referring website and search terms
  • Pages visited and time spent on the site
  • Device type and screen resolution
  • Comparison preferences (stored locally on your device)
  • If you submit a provider review: your rating, written comment, optional display name, provider, corridor where available, and your self-reported stage in the provider journey. We store a one-way hash of the request IP address to limit spam, rather than storing the address with the review.
  • When the optional post-provider feedback prompt appears: the provider, corridor, web or mobile source, a random visit identifier, and whether the prompt was shown, dismissed, or answered. These private usage events help us understand whether the feature is useful and are not published as reviews.
  • In the Android app, only after you choose usage analytics: a pseudonymous app instance ID, app version, basic device and operating-system information, screen names, broad transfer-amount ranges, selected corridor, comparison result count and provider continuation
  • In the Android app, only after you choose crash reports: a Crashlytics installation ID, app version, device model, crashes, application-not-responding events and sanitised React stack frames

Our Android event fields do not attach your email address, transfer name, exact transfer amount or sign-in data to these analytics or React crash events. React diagnostics omit the error message and send only bounded stack-frame information. The app also removes Android advertising-ID and Ad Services attribution permissions.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use collected data responsibly to enhance your experience:

  • Improve our services and website performance
  • Analyze traffic patterns and user behavior
  • Monitor and prevent security issues and fraud
  • Optimize content and features based on usage
  • Provide accurate rate comparisons from providers
  • Moderate and publish provider reviews that you choose to submit
  • Measure whether the optional provider-feedback prompt is being used

4. Cookies & Local Storage

We use a small number of cookies and localStorage entries. Non-essential cookies are only set after you accept them via our consent banner. The table below lists what we use.

5. Analytics & Processors

When you grant analytics consent, we share pseudonymised event data with the following processors. We use Google Consent Mode v2 - before consent is given, these tools receive anonymous signals only and do not set identifying cookies.

The Android app keeps usage analytics and crash reports as separate choices. Both are off until you decide, and you can change either choice under More, then Privacy and diagnostics. Android usage events are sent to Google Analytics 4. Crash and application-not-responding diagnostics are sent to Firebase Crashlytics. Declining either choice does not prevent comparison or saved transfers from working.

6. Third-Party Providers & Affiliate Links

Our website includes links to third-party money transfer providers. Many of these are affiliate links, meaning we may earn a commission when you sign up or transact. This does not change the rate or fee you see, and does not influence our rankings, see our Affiliate Disclosure for the full explanation. When you click through to a provider, you are subject to their privacy policy and terms. We encourage users to read the privacy policy of any external site they visit.

7. Contact & Communication

If you contact us via email at admin@compareremittancerates.com, we may retain your message and email address solely for the purpose of responding to your inquiry and improving our service. We will never share your contact information with third parties or use it for marketing purposes without your explicit consent.

8. Your Rights & Consent

By using our website or mobile app, you acknowledge this Privacy Policy. You have the right to:

  • Access any personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Opt-out of analytics tracking
  • Withdraw consent at any time

9. Delete Your App Account or Data

CompareRemittanceRates.com app users can delete their account and associated server data directly from the app:

  1. Open the app and select More.
  2. Open Account and data.
  3. Select Delete account and confirm the request.

A successful request deletes the sign-in account and account-linked data held by our service, including email-alert settings, saved server profiles and preferences. Private transfer records, scheduled reminders and other information described as staying on your phone are not uploaded as account data. Remove those separately by using the app's clear-local-data control or by uninstalling the app.

You can delete local app data without deleting your account by opening More, then Account and data, and using the local-data control. You can also turn usage analytics and crash diagnostics off independently under Privacy and diagnostics.

If you cannot access the app, email admin@compareremittancerates.com from the address connected to your account and ask us to delete your app account or specified account data. We may verify that you control the account before acting. Active account records are removed when deletion completes. Data that has already been aggregated or de-identified is not linked back to the deleted account. Limited infrastructure or security records may remain for the retention period applied by the relevant processor, or where retention is required by law.

10. Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of our service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
